FISH of West Valley

an ecumenical non-profit outreach  food ministry

FISH has been providing food and a helping hand to low income, homeless and stranded travelers in the West Valley since 1971 when it was founded by Louise Curinga, a member of the Congregational Church of Chatsworth. The food pantry has been located in the kitchen of the church at 20440 Lassen Street since it was established.  FISH is a  member of the  Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and is  licensed by the Los Angeles County Health Department with an "A" rating. FISH also has a contract to  receive excess food from the Los Angeles Unified School District.  The food pantry is staffed by dedicated volunteers from all faiths and supported by a coalition of churches and community organizations. We receive no government aid.  We have no paid employees.  We are a community service site for local schools  and colleges.  We welcome volunteers.

Volunteers are welcome  M-F from 9 AM -10:30 AM,    Thurs. from 10:30AM to 12:30 PM and Sat 2:00 PM to 6 PM.  Other hours may be arranged.  A major volunteer activity is the Letter Carriers Food Drive conducted the second Saturday of May each year .  Volunteers are needed on that day from 2:30 PM to 6 PM in the Multipurpose Room of Congregational Church of Chatsworth UCC to sort and pack food donations.    Call (818) 882-3474 for more information.

Free food is distributed on  Saturday from  4:00pm until all are served.  Contact FISH of West Valley at (818)882-3474 for more information.  Identification and proof of residence( for example -- a letter delivered by   the US Postal Service) are needed for ongoing eligibility.  Please do not come for groceries at times other than Sat at 4 PM.  If the  preschool is in session, state regulations prohibit strangers in the area.  Thank you for your cooperation.  We hope to see you Saturday.
